Using the gear explained in the previous article about these end-fed dipoles, I performed one run with an additional piece of “counterpoise” wire 0.05 wavelength wire inline with the half-wave radiator.
This was a quick test, but interesting nonetheless. Stay tuned for a more thorough test in the near future with the antenna considerably higher and a far field energy measurement to verify the current magnitudes.
Looks like the 0.05 is a net loss. I presume the motivation is fig 5 at http://www.aa5tb.com/efha.html. But that's with a resonant feed network, I think LNR is a broadband feed. Might that matter?
